Science Friday #59: Scientific Bobbleheads

Science is generally inglorious, ass-busting work. The science bobbleheads gushing on TV sound like cheerleaders describing their favorite varsity football players. It bugs me. Let's discuss.
This image is an artist’s depiction of exoplanet K2-18b and star K2-18. This system is 124 LY from Earth. Indications are that this system may be tidally locked, meaning that K2-18b may always show its same side to K2-18, much like the Moon shows its same side to Earth.
