Random thoughts: I think sometimes there is a basic difference in mentality between the types of people who occupy seats at counters or desks doing customer service, and people who have jobs that keep you on your feet moving. One Saturday morning at my hospital job, I was running down the hall to the bathroom (because our lab one was off limits due to a sewer issue), finally taking a few minutes after the usual running about from 6 am to 10 am getting all the equipment daily maintenance done and doing the morning patient lab testing, and I overheard one of the two people sitting at the front desk of the hospital yawn and say to the other "Whew, it's time for me to take a break." Sheesh, your whole working life is one long sitting break....

I look back fondly to the time I "won" against the desk sitters; my kids were little, and I was trying to get some medical stuff done at our new army assignment, and after a long morning of being run around the hospital, I wound up in a small waiting area with a room full of people waiting, who looked as if they had long since given up on life outside waiting there, and two people behind a desk; I think we were trying to get to immunizations but we had to make a stop here to get something signed. Anyway, the kids, 6 months and 2 years, were tired. The desk people appeared to be on break right at their desks as fast as they could be seen to be moving (there is nothing like a job-for-life government employee desk sitter for indolence), so when the 6 month old started to get fussy, I picked him up from his stroller and held him, but facing away from me, bouncing him gently, which looked very concerned and loving as a parent with a fussy infant, but in actuality he hated being held that way, and so the fussing continued uninterrupted, which led to annoyed looks from behind the desk, I bounced son #2 a little more, looking vaguely off across the room while patting son #1 on the head gently, and what do you know, after some more poisonous looks, we got called up, paperwork stamped so to speak, and sent on our way. I don't know what the rest of the waiting room thought of that, because nobody else had moved as far as I could tell.

I joined an Anytime Fitness last year, where I want to work out on the basic equipment, and I like how it's kept up and the general atmosphere, but my goodness, the upselling is ridiculous; individual coaching, infrared therapy, whole body scans, partnering with dietician online consultation, recently another affiliate of someone hawking infusions of various vitamins / minerals / other substances. Any and all of which cost hundreds more than the basic membership. There is also a premium membership, which gets you various extras I guess. I pass on all of it. The dietician stuff was supposed to be a free session with my basic membership, but I declined when to access the zoom appt I had to upload all my insurance and other healthcare information. I decided not to quiz the infusion person on her credentials, she was busy infusing a pink tinted solution and selling a monthly package to another woman, but I picked up a flier, and studied it. Apparently getting vitamin D, iron, or testosterone infusion, requires a blood test first, which the young lady could do the blood draw for that too. I don't know about you, but even with a blood test, I'm not infusing anything into me without a medical reason diagnosed by a doctor; the reason behind the deficiency is kind of important to know, and if you don't have a deficiency, then why are you spending hundreds to pee it back out again?
